Comtrade Gaming vs GammaStack: Migration or Launch Partner?
One has been shipping gaming systems since 2001 and wins by migrating established operators off their own tech. The other has delivered 600+ projects since 2012 and wins by getting new brands live fast. Two different businesses wearing the same category label.
- Comtrade Gaming is the enterprise migration specialist: part of the Comtrade Group IT business, gaming software since 2001, covering online and land-based through three product families -- iCore (platform), sCore (land-based systems, G2S/S2S protocol stacks) and gCore (game server and content).
- GammaStack is the delivery house: founded 2012, company-reported 600+ projects, 500+ staff, offices in the US, Latvia and Malta, with GammaPlus (turnkey casino) and GammaSweep (sweepstakes) as its 2024-2025 flagships. Shortlisted for Platform Provider of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards EMEA 2026.
- Comtrade's differentiator is standards and omni-channel: if you touch land-based cabinets, lottery, or a regulator that expects open protocols, this is a short list of one or two vendors.
- GammaStack's differentiator is speed and breadth of build: casino, sportsbook, lottery, fantasy, esports and sweepstakes from one supplier, with custom development as a first-class option rather than an exception.
- Naming note: GammaStack describes GammaPlus as its own flagship platform, while the iGamingHub catalog currently carries GammaPlus as a separate entry. Confirm which legal entity your contract names.
Comtrade Gaming vs GammaStack: Two Different Businesses, One Category Label
Both of these companies appear under "iGaming platform provider" in every directory, including the iGamingHub catalog. Put their client stories side by side and the label starts to look useless.
Comtrade Gaming wins deals by taking operators off something else. Canadian Bank Note migrated from proprietary technology across lottery, sports and casino. Stanleybet Romania migrated. Betaki migrated in Brazil. Spinbit migrated. That's a company whose commercial motion is replacement, and whose customers are established businesses with existing operations, existing players and existing regulators watching.
GammaStack wins deals by getting something new live. Turnkey casino, sportsbook, lottery, sweepstakes, crypto -- 600+ projects delivered since 2012, per the company, across 45+ countries, with a flagship turnkey product and a sweepstakes platform it markets as deployable in under five weeks. That's a company whose commercial motion is launch.
Migration and launch are different disciplines. They need different reference checks, different contract terms and different questions. Here's how the two compare when you stop reading them as the same purchase.
The two companies
Comtrade Gaming describes itself as an independent provider of open gaming platforms and professional services to both online and land-based sectors, serving "operators, vendors or regulators" -- that third audience is unusual and it tells you something about the company's posture. It sits inside the Comtrade Group, a large international IT services business, and traces its first gaming software project to 2001. Its own about page quotes 21 years of experience, 380 international employees and 7 technology centres; the "21 years" figure dates the page rather than the company, which is a small thing but worth knowing when you're evaluating how actively a vendor maintains its public materials.
The product structure is three-part and unusually legible:
- iCore -- the enterprise online gaming platform, plus Engage (bonusing) and a CRM built for casino operators.
- sCore -- land-based gaming systems management: central control system, G2S and S2S protocol stacks, a SAS-to-G2S converter board, and a responsible gaming solution.
- gCore -- the remote game server, game engine, mobile casino and card and table games.
Alongside those sit professional services: game content development, game testing, game distribution and operational support. Named clients across its materials include Ainsworth, Amatic Industries and Bally -- land-based names, which is the tell.
GammaStack reports a 2012 founding and a growth arc it publishes in detail: first international turnkey deliveries in 2013, a US headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware in 2016 alongside a crypto casino product, a Riga office and lottery solutions in 2018, live dealer software with multi-camera streaming and AI seat detection in 2022, a Malta office and the GS CORE player account management product in 2023, GammaSweep in 2024, and GammaPlus in 2025. Current company-reported numbers: 14+ years, 600+ projects, 500+ professionals, 45+ countries, 500+ games developed.
Different DNA, then. Comtrade grew out of enterprise IT and land-based systems. GammaStack grew out of software delivery and scaled into products.

Migration: what Comtrade's track record actually shows
Platform migration is the hardest thing an operator does that isn't a licence application. You're moving live player balances, bonus states, transaction history, responsible gambling records and regulatory reporting -- with real customers logging in throughout, and a regulator entitled to ask what happened to any single record.
Comtrade's 2025-26 wins read as a migration portfolio. It secured a platform agreement with 24Games in Chile, was selected by Canadian Bank Note as iGaming platform provider across lottery, sports and casino with a completed migration off CBN's proprietary technology, migrated Betaki onto iCore in Brazil, and completed a migration with Spinbit alongside a new operator agreement.
The Canadian Bank Note deal is the most telling of the four. CBN is a lottery and secure-document business, not a casino startup, and it was replacing technology it had built itself. Vendors don't win that kind of deal on price or launch speed. They win it on the ability to survive an enterprise procurement process and an integration that touches three verticals at once.
If your project is a migration, ask both vendors for two named references who migrated from a live platform, and ask those references about the parts nobody puts in a press release: bonus state translation, historical reporting continuity, and how many days the reconciliation took.
Launch: what GammaStack's track record shows
GammaStack's strength is the opposite motion. Its published roadmap is a sequence of productised launches -- crypto casino in 2016, lottery in 2018, live dealer in 2022, PAM in 2023, sweepstakes in 2024, next-generation turnkey in 2025 -- and its commercial materials emphasise speed to market with retained ownership.
External validation arrived in 2026: the company was shortlisted for Platform Provider of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards EMEA and showcased GammaPlus and GammaSweep at ICE Barcelona. A shortlist is a shortlist, not a win, but for a company that spent most of its history as a development shop rather than a product brand, being judged alongside platform vendors is a real transition marker.
The sweepstakes angle deserves a note of caution rather than enthusiasm. GammaSweep is marketed as deployable in under five weeks, which is genuinely fast. But deployment speed is the easy half of a sweepstakes launch in 2026 -- the hard half is legal, and it's moving quickly against the model. Our sweepstakes analysis covers where the pressure is coming from. A vendor that can deploy in five weeks doesn't shorten the time your lawyers need.
Where Comtrade is genuinely hard to replace
Two capabilities put Comtrade in a short list rather than a long one.
Land-based and omni-channel. sCore covers casino management infrastructure -- central control systems, protocol stacks, a SAS-to-G2S converter board for connecting older cabinets to modern systems. Very few online-first platform vendors have any of this, and you can't retrofit it credibly. If your business spans a physical floor and an online brand, or you're a lottery or a regulator-adjacent operation, the candidate list gets short fast.
Open standards. G2S and S2S are Gaming Standards Association protocols, and a vendor that builds on them is making a specific commitment: your systems can talk to other vendors' systems without a bespoke integration each time. That's a hedge against lock-in, and it's the kind of thing that matters in year four, not month one. It's the same argument we made about API-first platforms, applied to a part of the market that got there two decades earlier.
The trade-off is what you'd expect of an enterprise vendor: slower cycles, more process, and a commercial posture built for organisations with procurement departments. A three-person startup will find that heavy.
Where GammaStack is genuinely hard to replace
Breadth of build. Casino, sportsbook, lottery, fantasy, esports, crypto and sweepstakes from one supplier, with custom development treated as normal rather than as an exception. If your product plan includes something unusual -- a regional game format, a bespoke loyalty mechanic, an integration nobody offers off the shelf -- a development house that also sells products will quote it. A product company will tell you it's on the roadmap.
Regulated-market coverage claims. The iGamingHub catalog records GammaStack against an unusually wide list of licensed markets, spanning European regimes, LatAm and several US states. Treat that as a starting point for diligence rather than a finding: verify certification by market, by product and by date, using the process in our game testing and certification guide. Coverage maps are marketing; certificates are evidence.
The trade-off here is the classic development-house risk. A company with 600+ projects has, by definition, delivered a lot of things once. Ask specifically how many operators are live on GammaPlus today, in which markets, and for how long -- and get at least one reference running at your expected volume, not your expected feature set.
One naming issue to clear up before you sign
The iGamingHub catalog currently lists GammaPlus (gammaplus.io) as a separate provider from GammaStack, while GammaStack's own history page describes GammaPlus as its flagship turnkey platform launched in 2025. Both may be commercially true -- product brands frequently get their own domains, their own sites and sometimes their own legal entities.
For a buyer it's a concrete question rather than a curiosity: which entity signs the contract, which entity holds the certifications you're relying on, and which entity carries the liability if something fails. Ask it early. It takes one email and it saves an awkward conversation with your own compliance team later.
Commercial models
Neither vendor publishes pricing.
Comtrade's model, judged by its customer profile, is enterprise: licence or platform fees plus professional services, with migration scoped and quoted as a project. Expect a longer sales cycle, more documentation, and a contract written for a business with an in-house legal function.
GammaStack's catalog entry records a fixed-fee revenue model rather than pure revenue share, which is consistent with a development-house heritage and unusual in a market where revenue share dominates. For operators, a fixed model is better at scale and worse at launch -- you keep more of the upside once volume arrives, but you carry the cost before it does. That's a genuine strategic difference from the typical turnkey revenue-share deal, and it should be modelled against your own ramp, not assumed.
Verdict
Choose Comtrade Gaming if:
- You're migrating an established operation and need a vendor whose recent references are migrations rather than launches.
- Your business touches land-based, lottery or omni-channel, where sCore's systems layer has few real substitutes.
- Open standards matter to your architecture, and you want protocol-level portability rather than vendor-specific integrations.
- You're selling into procurement-heavy, regulator-facing environments where an enterprise IT parent is an asset rather than overhead.
Choose GammaStack if:
- You're launching, and speed to a working product matters more than protocol purity.
- Your plan spans several verticals -- casino plus sportsbook plus lottery, or a sweepstakes arm -- and you'd rather have one supplier than four.
- You need custom development as a normal part of the relationship, not a change-request negotiation.
- A fixed-fee commercial model fits your economics better than giving away a share of GGR indefinitely.
The blunt version: if you already have players, look hard at Comtrade. If you're trying to get your first ones, look hard at GammaStack.
Alternatives worth an RFP
- EveryMatrix -- modular platform with strong migration credentials and a wide component menu, competing directly with Comtrade on enterprise deals.
- SOFTSWISS -- the volume leader in online casino platform and aggregation, a natural comparison for GammaStack's turnkey side.
- Playtech -- the enterprise incumbent, relevant wherever omni-channel and regulated-market depth are decisive.
- BetConstruct -- broad multi-vertical coverage from one supplier, comparable to GammaStack's range with more scale behind it.
